This post is a continuation of last weeks post, Our Trip to Romania. The above photos are from the city of Sibiu, Romania. Sibiu was voted the Cultural Capital of Europe last year. It is a beautiful city, very European with allot of history. The hotel we stayed in was originally built back in the 1300's, fortunately it has been updated since then and was very nice. The history of this city if quite fasinating. It was first mentioned in documents from the Vatican in 1191. It is also known by its German name of Hermannstadt. It was the Capital of Transylvania from 1692 to 1790. After the "reformation" it was the seat of the Luthern Church. There are many Luthern Churchs here, dating back to the 1500's. It is a city of Church's with Romanian Orthodox, Catholic and Luthern Church's in rich abundance.

The first photo is of all of us "Senior Missionaries" assigned to the Romania Bucharest Mission. Only Wendy and I and the Hinson's are assigned in Moldova, the rest serve in various cities in Romania. The next photo's are of the hotel we stayed in, then the balance are of the city itself with the final photo of a Singer Sewing Machine from the middle 1500's.

You may have heard about our earthquake last night. The epicenter is not far from Sibiu, and measured 5.2 on the Richter Scale. We felt it pretty good here in Chisinau. I have not been able to get much news regarding damage in Romania, however initial reports are very positive.
