Baltz Service Project

Tuesday evening our Young Single Adults met and put together 100 "Hygiene Kits" to be delivered to Seniors in the city of Baltz, Moldova. On Thursday, the 25th we left at 9am and took a maxi-taxi for the three hour trip. We met these great people out where they raise their own food. When you are thinking how rough you have it, think of these people who live on $50.00 US a month. They work from sunup to sundown raising crops so they can eat. The government lets them farm on this land. They had been doing everything with hand tools until the LDS Church donated a new roto-tiller (see slide show) to help them. Our Young Single Adults met and gave out the 100 Hygiene Kits to these wonderful, humble people. It was a wonderful experience to be able to serve some of Heavenly Fathers Children who are in need of help.
You will see in the slide show, the hit of the day was Christian. What a bright wonderful little boy. He lives with his grandmother and deaf mother in this senior center. We all fell in love with him! He is working at learning English, on his own and his mother is working on learning sign language in English. One of our group asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up. He said, "President", I said, "President of Moldova?" He said, " NO, of America!!!!"
These are the times that make us feel grateful to be here and to do our small part in helping Heavenly Father bless the lives of others. It reminds us of how blessed we are to live in the fortunate circumstances that we do.
