Saturday was the 4th of July. We missed being home in America for the holiday, the fireworks at Rancho Murieta. We really miss our family on holidays; getting together for swimming and fun.
The US Chamber of Commerce and the US Embassy put on a 4th of July picnic at a local park here in Chisinau. All the American's living in Moldova were invited as well as anyone who has worked or works with the Chamber or the Embassy. It was well attended and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
They tried to have "American Hot Dogs and Hamburgers" we appreciated the effort, but it was not like home. It was a beautiful day so we were gratful for the effort. No fireworks.
When you live away from home it makes you appreciate what you have. Wendy and I are grateful for the freedoms we enjoy in America and are really looking forward coming home in a little more than 7 months.
