Today, September 15th was another great day of humanitarian service. We travelled aproximately 2 hours to the village of Telenesti, where we met a team of Doctors and medical staff, the Mayor and the head of the Government Office for the disabled. We presented 30 wheelchairs to those who had been seen by the physicians and verified that they needed them. There are another 500 chairs being delivered and will be sent all over Moldova. As you can see, the most poignant one was the little boy about 3 or 4 years old who was paralized from the waist down. It brought tears to most of our eyes, including the Mayor of Telenesti. Once again it was such a joy to see the LDS Church doing as the Savior taught, giving to the needy in Christlike Love. Your donations, to the Church Humanitarian Fund, at work.
We attended Family Home Evening with the Young Adults this evening and had another wonderful experience with some of the nicest young people you could ever hope to meet. All but two of them are the only members of the Church in their families, but they are strong in thier commitment to the Savior. We had a great 30 minute lesson then played Charades and ate cookies. Believe me.....it is not easy to play Charades in Russian!!!!!!

Every new day sounds like quite the awesome experience! So, will you continue doing a lot of things with the humanitarian missionaries in the future - or is this for now while you guys are new? Karen
Janis and I love reading about your mission. The Young Adults sound like they can really be admired, like our pioneers. The humanitarian work you're doing sounds so rewarding. I'm glad to know your trip to Moldova was so smooth and comfortable (ha ha). Your attitude is an inspiration to both of us. We hope to follow you up in a few years.

Benny and I are so excited to hear of your experiences. It makes us really look forward to the time when we will be able to serve a mission. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to the Posts. You both are an inspiration to me. I do miss your smiles at the Temple.

Bob & Wendy: From the first moment I set foot in Norway on my mission in 1964, I was taken by the way other people in the world go about their daily affairs and the lives they lead. For the past 45 years, living and working in multiple countries, I have come to appreciate our America. I know that this mission in eastern Europe will increase your love for, and understanding of, Christ's children elsewhere. I admire what you are doing and will follow the blog to see how many Ha Ha's you can accumulate.
Cheers,
This place looks beautiful, and those people are going to be so lucky to have the Telford's as their friend. I can't wait to read all about the rest of the things your doing. Your granddaughters have already e-mailed med about the couple you want to help send to the temple. Steve and I want to help them. Love Margaret
