"You are hereby called to serve in the Romania, Bucharest Mission, to serve in Chisinau, Moldova for eighteen months..."

Slideshow of Where We'll Be Serving...

We couldn't wait another week to tell about this Sunday Evening. As some of you know, Sunday's are our hardest day here in Moldova. We miss our family the most on Sunday's. This evening we had a wonderful time, we had the Chisinau missionaries over for dinner and an evening of visiting and fun. It was like being surrounded by our family and it was GREAT!

These are the best missionaries you could ever hope to meet. From left to right...Elder Zemp, Elder Anderson, Elder Richey, Elder Thompson, Sister Lovell and Sister Howard. (We knew Sister Howard in the MTC so it is special to have her here in Chisinau). We had a great Spaghetti dinner, then we sat around the living room and believe it or not, sang Christmas Carols and Church Hymns. It was a wonderful evening.

We talked about experiences and there is one that has to be shared. (I did get permission from Elder Anderson). When Elder Anderson was new and not overly familiar with the language, he asked a "street contact" Ce mai faceti? (how are you doing) The person responded in Romanian, "my child just died". Elder Anderson not understanding what was said, replied with "Foarte Bine" which translated means very good. Fortunately, his companion understood and corrected the situation. We all had a good laugh, as we can all relate to learning this new language.

We feel blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful young men and women who are committed to the Lord and willing to give up between 18 and 24 months of their lives to spread the message that Jesus is the Christ, and invite the people of Moldova to come unto Him.

What a great site you have!!! My son is Elder Richey. I love seeing the pictures and reading your blog. It gives me a good sense of the area and the spirit there. How exciting that the young people are embracing the gospel. I know that your area was mentioned in our last general conference and the strength of the young people was noted. Thanks for the pictures and blogs and give my son a hug for me.
